It is not hard to come across a lunch venue or restaurant in Linköping. There is a large selection of food among them and they exist in all kinds of price ranges. From fast-food places like McDonald's and Burger King to more fancy ones like Olympia, Gula Huset and Yogi. There is also a great range in the types of food like wook, sushi, pizza, Greek, Italian and plain homely cooking.

Djingis Khan

If you are in the mood for Mongolian food you can grab a bite to eat at Sweden’s oldest Mongolian restaurant! Pick whatever you want to eat from a large buffet-table after which you give it to a chef, then watch as he barbecues it. The buffet consists of lots of different kinds of meet and seafood, a lot of different vegetables and a wide assortment of sauces. It is located on the street that connects Stora torget with Trädgårdstorget, above “Apple Inn”.

Gula Huset (The Yellow House)

If you feel like embracing the Swedish food culture, then make your way to Gula Huset on the busy club street Ågatan. Here you can choose among seven different lunch dishes, most of them are cooked in a Swedish way.
A lunch dish costs about 80 Swedish kronor. If the weather allows it you can eat outside on a little courtyard, which is separated from the street so that you can enjoy your meal in peace and quite.

Frälsningsarmén (The Salvation Army)

If you happen to be in Linköping on a wednesday and are on a very slim budget you might want to pay a visit to the Salvation Army. They serve light soup lunch where you can eat as much as you want for only 25 kronor. Along with the soup you also get bread, coffee and cookies. The staff, working for free, are very helpfull. The place is located near St. Lars church and the name for it in Swedish is Frälsningsarmén, to make it somewhat easier for you to find it.

Le Bistro

A ten minutes walk from the centre of Linköping, overlooking Tinnerbäcken, you find Le Bistro. This is both a lunch- and dinner restaurant. For lunch you can get anything from a pizza to “Wallenbergare”, a Swedish speciality consisting of a mincemeat beef filled with Swedish goodies. It has got its name from one of the wealthiest families in Sweden. For a reasonable price of about 70 kronor you get a complete meal, including drinks, coffee, bread and salad. For dinner you can choose from 6 different main courses and many starters and desserts. The prices are somewhat more expensive than for a lunch meal.

Hakepi

If you are hungover from yesterdays adventures or just want to fill up your empty stomach at a resonable cost, consider heading towards one of the many kebab restaurants that are located on and around Ågatan. One of them is Hakepi which you will find on Ågatan on the opposite side of the clubs Harry's and Sliver. You can get a kebab meal for only 30 kronor but the price reaches up to 60 kronor.

Sangria

Located between Stora torget and Ågatan is the Spanish and Portuguese inspired restaurant Sangria. The food here is quite expensive but you get good value for your money. You can choose from a wide variety of starters, main courses and desserts from the Iberian Peninsula. If you don’t find any dish that appeals to you, it is possible to make your own meal at their Tapas Bar.

Wok Away

If the sun is shining and you feel like devouring your meal outside, then head down to lilla torget. In the corner between Intersport and Stadium you find the restaurant Wok Away.
At the cost of about 70 Swedish kronor you can enjoy one of the five different lunch menus. They also have a wide selection of other meals which are slightly more expensive. The restaurant only offer limited seating so we recommend you to order take away and bring your food to either Trädgårdsföreningen or Stångån which both are located just a couple of hundred meters away.
