There are a lot of things that you can do in Linköping during the summer. And if you are only here for a day, let’s make that day the best that it can be!
Let us say that you wake up in a hotel room after having arrived very late the evening before. At the hotel, breakfast is most likely to be included so let’s start by enjoying that delicious Swedish breakfast. After the breakfast you could go to Tinnis, a central outdoors pool facility, with large green lawns and lots of places to sit down and just take in the Swedish summer sun or taking a swim in the pool or “lake”. If you are up for a snack you can visit the little kiosk to by an ice cream or some candy.
But for when you get really hungry, you can leave Tinnis, make a short stop at your hotel room to leave any belongnings that you do not wish to carry around and then pay a visit to a perfect summer lunch place, Wok Away. Why don’t you order it as take-away and take a walk down to our beautiful central park, Trädgårdsföreningen and sit down on a bench or on the big lawn at the centre of the park and enjoy your food.
You can probably sit here for many hours, but when you are up for something else one suggestion is that you take a walk through town and stop to bye an ice cream at Bosses ice cream bar. You can sit at one of the benches in the city, observing the life surrounding you. Or you can bring your ice cream and take a walk alongside the Stångå canal for a while. There are many bridges so you can get over to the other side whenever you’d like.
After a while, when you have enjoyed a hopefully sunny and great day, you can start thinking about the upcoming evening. Maybe you feel like buying a smashing evening outfit for the night? Then that won’t be too hard, since there is a lot of shopping opportunities in Linköping city.
As the day turns into night, maybe there is time for a stop at your hotel to get dressed for the evening. A great start for the night is to visit “Storan” on the big square for a drink or a beer in the warm summer breeze and when you feel that you are getting hungry you can pick one of the many outdoor dining’s where you can sit almost as long as you’d like. But hopefully you don’t stay there all night, but instead you go out and party on Ågatan, Maybe you start on “55an” and then continue your partying at Platå where you can dance all night long.
